Kaafal

kaafal is the state fruit of Uttarakhand. It is the most famous and favorite fruit among Uttarakhand. It is generally grown in a hilly area where the climate is cold. it is sweet and sour. it is eaten with pissi nur ( salt). its color varies from red to green, ripen one is dark red. The region of Kumaon(कुमाऊँनी) is mostly known for this fruit. The areas like Ranikhet, Almora, bhowali, and Nainital are renowned for kaafal. This fruit is called kaafo (कुमाऊँनी) in the local kumaoni dialect. 

It ripes in April and can only be enjoyed until May. Uttarakhand most famous song is also based on kaafal – Bedu pako baromasa , kafal pako chaita meri chaila .

Hisalu / Hisau

Hisalu is uttarakhandi wild fruit . Like kaafal it is sweet and sour. it is generally yellow but its one variety is black.It’s pretty popular with locals. This light yellow colored fruit is abundant both in the areas of Kumaon and Garhwal and tastes incredibly sweet!.It ripes in may and last till end of july. It is accessible mostly in and around Nainital, Bhimtal, Almora and can be bought by roadside stalls from fruit sellers. eating hisalu in excess amount can cause loose motion

Kilmord (किलमोड़े )

kilmord is also a wild fruit found in uttarakhand which has many medicinal properties . Its can cure any level of sugar / diabetes . For curing diabetes its roots are used. it is dark purple and can make your mount purple when you eat it . it growes in bushes and can be easily found anywhere in uttarakhand speacially in forest area. due to it’s medicinal properties it is in high demand and many quintal of kilmord is exported to all over india. It’s plant has spicks in it so be carefull when you pluck it .it is sour and different from other and most people don’t like it but loved by many people

प्रकृति ने उत्तराखंड को कुछ ऐसे तोहफे दिए हैं, जिनके बारे में अगर सही ढंग जान लिया तो आपके शरीर से बीमारियां हमेशा के लिए दूर भाग सकती हैं। खास तौर पर पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों में प्रकृति के गोद में ही आपको कई बीमारियों का इलाज मिल जाएगा। आज हम आपको कंटीली झाड़ियों में उगने वाले एक फल के बारे में बता रहे हैं जिसका नाम है किलमोड़ा। ये छोटा सा फल बड़े काम का है। वैसे आपको जानकर हैरानी कि अब किलमोड़ा से विदोशों में एंटी ऑक्सीडेंट यानी कैंसर जैसी बीमारी के लिए दवा तैयार की जा रही है। आम तौर पर इसे किलमोड़ा नामं से ही जाना जाता है। इसकी जड़, तना, पत्ती, फूल और फल हर एक चीज बेहद काम की है। इस पौधे में एंटी डायबिटिक, एंटी इंफ्लेमेटरी, एंटी ट्यूमर, एंटी वायरल और एंटी बैक्टीरियल तत्व पाए जाते हैं। डायबिटीज के इलाज में इसका सबसे ज्यादा इस्तेमाल किया जाता है। आम तौर पर ये पेड़ उपेक्षा का ही शिकार रहा है। लेकिन आपको जानकर हैरानी होगी कि इस पेड़ से दुनियाभर में जीवन रक्षक दवाएं तैयार हो रही हैं। किलमोड़ा की झाड़ियों से तैयार हुए तेल का इस्तेमाल कई तरह की दवाएं बनाने में किया जाने लगा है। कुछ लोगों ने किलमोड़े को कमाई का जरिया बना लिया है। बागेश्वर के एक शख्स भागीचंद्र टाकुली बीते डेढ़ दशक से जड़ी-बूटियों के संरक्षण में जुटे हैं। उन्होंने कुछ वर्ष पूर्व इसके पौधे से तेल भी तैयार किया है। किलमोड़े की सात किलो लकड़ियों से करीब 200 ग्राम तेल तैयार होता है। इस तेल की एक अच्छी खासी कीमत भागीचंद्र टाकुली को मिल जाती है। दवाओं के लिए तैयार होने वाला इसका कच्चा तेल सबसे ज्यादा हिमाचल से भेजा जाता है। सदियों से उपेक्षा का शिकार हो रहा ये पौधा बड़े कमाल का है। इसलिए लोगों को इसकी उत्पादकता को बढ़ाए रखने पर विचार करना चाहिए।

Timil

Timil is uttarakhandi fruit which is grown in tree . it is sweet in taste and honey like material come out from fruit when it is completely ripen . its color varies from green to red . It refers to the fig family. Nevertheless the leaves are more essential and important than the fruit itself. Nowadays seeds are scarcely consumed as it get rotten when it is in tree because of many plant disease but the leaves are used in almost all celebrations and religious activities of Hindu. 

Timil can be use to replace plastic as they are durable and hase holding capacity . In uttarakhand they are used as plates ( by combining 2, 3 leaves ) . Prashad is distributed in these leaves in hilly area

Bedu (बेड़ू) 

it is also a popular fruit in uttarakhand . it is known as anjeer in hind . it is dark purple and has small size .it has an average taste and not liked by many but it has many medicinal use . it is used to cure piles of any stage . it ripes in every month of year .it also belong to fig family and grows in tree

Khumani Darim (दाड़िम)

It is very tasty fruit which grows in hilly part of uttarakhand . it is known as Apricot in english . it is also used as dry fruit . it is of bright yellow and has sweet and sour. many varietes of khumani is found in uttarakhand . one of its variety ‘s seed taste like nuts when you break it . It has many medicinal use. it is good for eyes and skin . many skincare product are made of it .In Uttarakhand, this fleshy and juicy fruit is commonly grown also a it contain – beta-carotene, iron, potassium, and antioxidants, and thus a healthy choice.

Darim (दाड़िम) Ghingaru

darim is smaller form of pomogranate . it can be found anywhere in uttarakhand . it is of light redish color . it is not that sweet and are sour. It contain minerals, phosphorous, calcium and magnesium .

Ghingaru

ghingaru are beautiful looking fruit of uttarakhand . Despite the reality that these are not very delicious, Ghingaru berries are delicious and consumed by local individuals. These can also be transformed into a safeguard . It has many medicinal uses like-It was used for heart failure, myocardial deficiency, tachycardia paroxysmal, hypertension, arteriosclerosis, and Burgor’s disease. The cardio-tonic, coronary vasodilator and hypotensive characteristics of these are attributed. It has may anioxidant which helps in lowering bloodpresser and cholestrol

Aaru /Aadoo

Aaru is also a popular and tasty fruit of uttarakhand. It is loved by all. their exterior is like khumani but bigger. They are dark yellow. it taste sweet and sour . They are known as peach in english and very popular all over india . It is good for our skin . It ripes in summer season . it belongs to rose family and it contain good amount of vitamin A.

Malta

Malta is delicious fruit which grows in hilly area of uttarakhand where temperature is low . It is like oranges but it is more sweet and sour as compare to oranges . it is juicy fruit and contain vitamin c which is good for eyes. It ripes in winter season and comes under citrus fruit category . it boost our immune system . it also have commercial used . Many people in uttarakhand export it to all over uttarakhand .

Pulam

Pulam is known as plum in english . It is dark maroom color small size fruit which grows in hilly area . it is sour and slightly sweet and used to make jelly and jam . Ripe in may to september . you can buy it from any road side fruit seller in bhowali, nainital, almora etc. they are very juicy fruit
